want to go look if blogger takes down blogs after so much inactivity. Apparently not.
Tonight is a very different night. First, all kids and one husband were asleep by 8pm! It was so nice to eat a huge cupcake in the thinking chair without anyone asking me for a bite. Secondly, doing the dishes without the phone ringing even once was heaven.
Seriously, I think the anticipation for tomorrow morning is greater than any Christmas or Birthday morning has ever been. I think the dreams in the minds of my babies are sweet and spectacular. For me, I realize that there will never be another First Day of School like the one about to unfold in less that 14 hours. Tonight as I fall asleep, I am reminded that when I wake, tomorrow will be a totally new era in our lives.
Funny, somehow I look at SBB and think there is no way he can be big enough to be going to Kindergarden. I pack his lunch fearing that I can not send him with this or that because he can't open it by himself, or who will put the straw in his juice box because he can not quite push it in the right spot just yet. I never remember feeling like that with The Third. I realize that both are and were ready, but somehow for him, it is different.
And for The Third, so strong and confident, tomorrow marks another big step. It seems to her that 2nd grade is a little more grown up than first. When I look at those first graders in her room, I think she looks so mature, so much older, so much wiser. She is excited to sit next to a first grader and show her how to do everything, and I am sure she will.
So something tonight made me go in an extra time and kiss them both, one more time, just to remember the times we have had in this era that is about to end.

Finally, a sigh of relief..
Today was the really big day that the last pieces of the kitchen puzzle came together. Beautiful granite countertops were installed and might I say, they look very good. Lots of little details still to decide (fabric, fabric, fabric) but for now it is complete. I will post photos soon but I need a few minutes to admire!

Finally Photos...
So if you are not on Facebook or just not my friend on Facebook, here you go. There are different photos in both places because Husband takes them with messy counters and I clean them off first. Well actually, I move the junk from one side, take the photo and then move it to the other side. You get the point.

So much to blog, so little time...
OK, give me grief, lots going on. Lots should be in all capitals. Kitchen update coming soon. Great photos on facebook if you are a friend. I seem to like that better but for those of you who do not, you must wait for me to blog.
Amazing what I heard today. Did you know that the average family dinner only lasts 26 minutes, 80% of families have dinner with the TV on and 90% of families answer the telephone during dinner. Can you believe that? I listen respectfully to Rabbi Shmuley on Oprah radio and I can not believe some of the stuff he shares. Today he was talking about what influences our children and he shared these statistics. I believe in Family Game NIght, I believe in Family Dinners, and I believe in instilling Family values in my children. I am not trying to criticize because I know it is hard. We have not had a normal routine in our house for weeks but there is still one thing we do every night and that is we all go around the room and share what was our favorite part of the day. We all love it and we look forward to it. That alone takes us 26 minutes not to mention time to eat. Try it, you just might like it!

Today begins my 40th Year of Living
So today is the day, my 40th year of living in this world begins. I have worried and waited for this for the last 6 weeks and wondered how am I going to embrace it. Happy, well overall yes. Blessed, you betcha! (that is for all the Palin fans out there, which incidentally if you have not heard my dissertation as to why I should be the VP candidate, you should, it is funny) Lucky, in oh so many ways, that is why I do not play the lottery, all my luck goes into life, I would never win money. Healthy, keeping fingers crossed. Rich, depends on how you measure it and who really cares. Loved, are you kidding, that is a no brainer! Even with all that said I want to embark on some journey for the next year. I want to make sure that next year when I enter my 41st year of living or my 40th birthday, I can reflect back on some great change. I thought about a fitness plan but then dismissed it thinking too egocentric. I thought about a service project and then thought too cliche. I thought about remodeling my kitchen but then remembered I was already doing that! As always something will come to me and like always it ill be at the last minute. Something momentous I am sure.

Quirk-e-nous is hereditary
So this is what I realized today, really quirky habits must be hereditary. I took The Third to lunch today and she just happened to pick Wendy's. I laughed inside thinking that when I was carrying her I can remember feasting on the "Lunch of Champions" as I called it when in actuality it was the only thing I could eat with the horrible "morning, afternoon, evening, middle of the night, and all other time" sickness her inside me caused for the entire 9 months she controlled my body; a frosty and french fries. As we got to the counter I let her order as I usually do these days and to my surprise with a cute little giggle she asked for a vanilla frosty and french fries. Honestly, I have NEVER eaten that in front of her, if I was guilty she would have never chosen vanilla as chocolate is the far better choice in my opinion. It hit me, she had to have gotten that through her genes and not her environment. She then told me that is what Grandma lets her order when they work together. That darn Grandma, it must be in her quirky genes too. You should try it, if you are not lucky enough to have our genes.
